The Copper Market pumpkin competition ended in a weight tie today after two entries registered exactly the same result on the certified scale. Both growers immediately requested a second weighing. The result remained unchanged.
Judges consulted the rules, which contained no tie procedure. Diameter also matched within the measuring tolerance. Colour was declared too subjective. After seventeen minutes, someone suggested stem curvature. This produced the first truly angry response of the afternoon.
The Market Office awarded a shared first prize. Both growers received brass ribbons and half the ceremonial sack of seed. The stems remain unmeasured, preserving peace and possibly civilisation.
