A repaired novelty clock has found an owner who sees options where others see duplication.

Bell Street Watchmaker Sells Clock With Two Minute Hands; Buyer Calls It ‘Flexible’

A Bell Street watchmaker displayed an old novelty wall clock today with two minute hands and one hour hand. The second minute hand was part of an abandoned reminder mechanism and no longer served a practical purpose.

A customer bought the clock after the watchmaker explained the defect in detail. The buyer said the extra hand made the time feel “less final.” The watchmaker warned that both minute hands currently point to the same minute because they share the shaft.

The clock was sold at a reduced price. The buyer left satisfied and has asked whether a second hour hand could be added later. The watchmaker has requested time to consider how strongly to say no.
