Copper Market Introduces New Stall Numbers; Stall 42½ Officially Abolished

The Market Office has launched a new numbering system after traders proved that integers alone were not enough supervision.

Copper Market Introduces New Stall Numbers; Stall 42½ Officially Abolished

Copper Market introduced a revised stall-numbering system this morning. The old system included two Stall 42s and one unofficial Stall 42½. The new system divides the market into lettered sections. New brass plates are being fitted.

Maps will be posted at the entrances. Traders have been instructed not to exchange numbers, move plates or add fractions. The trader formerly known as 42½ has asked whether decimals are allowed. They are not. He then asked about Roman numerals.

Also no. A postal worker expressed relief, explaining that delivering to “the other forty-two” had become a recognised route instruction. The Market Office will review the system after one month. The former 42½ trader has temporarily renamed his stall: “YOU KNOW WHICH ONE.”
