Old Pump Walkway Reopens; Engineers Find Six Bolts, One Bracket and a Teaspoon

The Old Pump Walkway reopened this morning after a two-day inspection. Engineers tightened six loose bolts, replaced one cracked bracket and removed a teaspoon from a maintenance channel. The bolts and bracket have been accounted for. The teaspoon has not.

No nearby worker admits bringing tea onto the lower platform, although three admit bringing tea “near” the lower platform. Pedestrians may now use the walkway normally. A small repair platform remains closed while several fittings are replaced.

Residents are also reminded not to lean over the railing and shout suggestions to workers below. According to City Engineering, repairs take approximately twice as long when somebody above keeps saying, “Have you tried the other bolt?” The teaspoon has been placed in lost property under the category: “Probably kitchen. Possibly engineering.”
