Children playing near Copper Market uncovered an old painted sign behind a loose wooden panel. The faded words read: “SOUTH SERVICE PASSAGE.” An arrow points toward a wall now occupied by storage rooms. Market records do not use that name.
Officials believe the sign belongs to an older layout. No hidden entrance has been found. This fact has not slowed the children. Within an hour, they produced a hand-drawn map showing three secret tunnels, a treasure room and one underground bakery.
Market staff asked visitors not to remove more panels looking for “secret passages.” A child then asked whether removing panels for “historical research” was permitted. It is not. The original sign will remain visible while records are checked. The underground bakery remains unconfirmed.
