A Postal Service bird refused to carry a small parcel this morning. Handlers initially suspected a harness problem. The parcel was weighed. It was light. It was opened with the sender’s permission. Inside was one biscuit.
The biscuit had been packed in a wooden box. The wooden box had been wrapped in cloth. The cloth had been placed inside a second wooden box. The sender explained: “I did not want it broken.” Postal staff agreed the biscuit was well protected.
They also explained that the packaging weighed considerably more than the biscuit. The parcel will travel by cart. The bird watched the decision with visible satisfaction. The biscuit remains intact. Nobody has yet explained why it needed to travel across the city.
