Bell Street Nameplates Swapped Overnight; Nobody Admits Knowing Why

Two street signs changed places overnight and spent the morning confidently identifying the wrong streets.

Bell Street Nameplates Swapped Overnight; Nobody Admits Knowing Why

Residents woke today to find two street nameplates had been swapped. Bell Street was labelled Valve Street. Valve Street was labelled Bell Street. The signs fit perfectly. No tools were left behind. Nobody has admitted moving them. For nearly an hour, delivery workers followed the signs before local residents began correcting them.

A bakery on Bell Street reported a brief increase in customers from Valve Street, while a valve repair shop received two people looking for cakes. Both businesses managed the confusion professionally, although the repair shop refused a request for six cream buns and a pressure washer. One postal worker delivered three letters correctly while standing on the officially wrong street.

He has asked whether this counts as improved accuracy. Street Works restored both signs before noon. A resident has suggested painting arrows beneath them “just in case.” The suggestion has been declined. Officials say the matter is closed. Children nearby say this proves adults are afraid of fun.
