Autumn Lamp Inspection Finds One Streetlight Facing a Wall

A routine lamp survey has identified a perfectly functional light illuminating approximately four square metres of brick.

Autumn Lamp Inspection Finds One Streetlight Facing a Wall

Street Works began its autumn lamp inspection on North Lantern Row today. Most lamps were clean, secure and pointed toward the street. One was clean, secure and pointed directly at a wall. Records show the bracket was replaced during summer repairs, although nobody appears to have checked what the lamp was facing afterwards.

Residents say the arrangement has existed for at least three weeks. One shopkeeper admitted noticing it but assumed “the wall had a reason.” Another said the brickwork has never been better lit. The inspector rotated the bracket while two residents debated whether the wall would miss the attention.

The lamp now illuminates the pavement as intended. Street Works has added “direction” to the inspection checklist, a category officials believed was already implied by the word streetlight. The wall remains available during daylight hours.
