Children in Courtyard Nine created an exchange system this afternoon using dry autumn leaves. Red leaves were worth two yellow leaves. Large unbroken yellow leaves were worth three small ones. Brown leaves were initially rejected and later accepted after what witnesses described as inflation.
The system expanded when one child offered a button for twelve red leaves. An adult then asked whether the Market Office intended to regulate the trade. The Market Office responded that it does not license leaves, courtyard economies or imaginary banks operated from overturned crates.
Rain ended the market shortly after four. Most of the currency is now stuck to the pavement. One child claims this represents a liquidity crisis. The Gazette believes somebody has been listening to adults.
