Halloween Lantern Walk Approved; Residents Asked Not to Frighten Postal Birds

Ventorn’s evening lantern walk will proceed with one unusually specific courtesy request.

Halloween Lantern Walk Approved; Residents Asked Not to Frighten Postal Birds

The City Office has approved tonight’s autumn lantern walk through Bell Street, Lantern Row and the East Gate square. Participants may wear costumes and carry enclosed lanterns. Open flames outside approved holders remain prohibited.

The Postal Service has added one request after last year’s event: do not leap from doorways at passing mechanical postal birds. The birds are machines, but sudden obstacles still affect route safety. Gobbs has suggested wording this more strongly. The City Office has declined.

The walk begins after sunset and ends before the late service bell. The Gazette wishes participants a cheerful evening and reminds readers that any mysterious knocking should still be reported to Engineering rather than incorporated into decorations.
