The Central Postal Office is attempting to deliver a letter addressed only to: “THE TALL HOUSE, VENTORN.” No recipient name appears. No street appears. No district appears. Postal workers have identified seventeen buildings that could reasonably qualify. Three are informally called “the tall house.”
Two owners insist theirs is taller. One has submitted measurements. The letter remains sealed. Postal rules do not allow workers to open mail simply because the address is useless. A notice has been placed at the counter. Anyone claiming the letter must identify the sender and describe the envelope.
The Postal Service has also reminded residents that “the red door,” “near the pipes” and “you know the place” are not complete addresses. A resident immediately asked whether “the REALLY tall house” would be acceptable. It would not.
