A Night Watch officer on Lantern Row reported a small bell mounted above a courtyard arch with no visible rope or striker. The officer assumed part of an alarm system might be missing.
The building owner explained that the bell is decorative and came with the arch when the property was restored. It has never been connected. The officer checked records, confirmed no alarm was registered and closed the report.
The owner has agreed to add a discreet plaque identifying the bell as decorative. The Watch says this is optional but appreciated. The bell remained silent throughout and, unlike several residents, offered no theory.
