A message capsule arriving through Delivery Tube No. 2 contained one striped sock. No letter. No address. No second sock. Postal staff checked the dispatch records. Nobody had registered a sock. The tube was briefly inspected for additional clothing.
None was found. A clerk placed the sock in lost property. Within an hour, four people claimed to own a striped sock. Only one could correctly describe the heel. Unfortunately, that person admitted his sock was still on his foot.
The claim was rejected. The Postal Service has reminded residents that delivery tubes are for messages and approved capsules. Socks are neither. The lonely sock remains behind the counter. A small sign beside it reads: “PLEASE DO NOT SEND ITS FRIEND.”
