Street Drain Returns Same Teaspoon Found Last Month, According to One Engineer

Maintenance workers clearing a drain near Market Lane recovered one teaspoon. This would not normally be news. Unfortunately, one engineer believes it is the same teaspoon found in the Old Pump Walkway last month. The spoon had been placed in lost property.

Records show it was later claimed by a person who described it correctly as: “Silver-coloured. Spoon-shaped.” That description should not have been accepted. The claimant cannot now be located. The newly recovered spoon has been returned to lost property.

It is being held under stricter identification rules. Claimants must now provide at least one detail not shared by most teaspoons. City Engineering denies rumours that the spoon is travelling through the pipe system. The spoon has made no comment.
