Street Musicians Asked Not to Accidentally Sound Like Evacuation

Bell Street performers may continue playing at noon, provided nobody mistakes the finale for a municipal emergency.

Street Musicians Asked Not to Accidentally Sound Like Evacuation

Street musicians near Bell Street have been asked to shorten noon performances. The issue is not volume. The issue is that several whistles and horns accidentally reproduce patterns similar to municipal warning signals.

Last Tuesday, a trumpet phrase caused three shopkeepers to step outside and one engineer to reach for an emergency valve. The musician described this as “a very strong ending.” City officials described it differently. Performances remain permitted. Musicians should avoid official signal patterns and pause around the midday bell.

One whistle player requested a complete written list of forbidden patterns. The City Office is preparing one. He has promised to compose around it. Residents are reminded that applause remains unrestricted unless performed in an official warning rhythm.
